Make The Most Of Your Nests Of Tables For Your New Year Celebrations

Wednesday December 16, 2009

As the year comes to an end, most of us will be thinking about how to celebrate the start of the New Year in some way. And for lots of us that means thinking about holding a party of some kind at home.

If you are going to be playing the host this year, you’ll find that your nest of tables will come into its own for lots of reasons. If you don’t already have one, now is the best time to invest in one for the first time. That’s because one set will give you three or perhaps even four new surfaces for people to put their drinks and nibbles on.

It pays to make sure you protect them though, particularly if they are made from wood. If you have ever split a drink on a wooden table you will know what we mean. The liquid can easily permeate into the table itself and that can ruin it completely. That’s the last thing you want for your brand new wooden nest of tables!

The best bet in this case is to get a piece of thick plastic and put that underneath a small tablecloth. That way, if anyone spills something all that will be stained is the tablecloth itself. You should still mop up as quickly as possible but at least your table will be safe. You could also pop a few sheets of kitchen roll underneath the tablecloth on top of the plastic, to help mop up any spillages.

These occasional nests of tables are also good for putting bowls of nibbles and crisps on. And because you can position them here and there around the room, all your guests will be within easy reach of them.

Remember though that the tables are low, so it pays not to overload them too much. As people wander around the tables will be at leg height and there is always the danger they may not see them. Make sure you keep them out of the general walkway and in a position where they are less likely to get knocked over.

As you can see having these tables is a great boon at this time of year. Provided you plan where you want them and divide up the food and drink to sit on them equally, they will prove to be a great addition to any New Year’s party.
