At first glance a nest of tables would seem to be the easiest thing in the world to make. After all, we are talking about a flat top and four legs, so there shouldn’t be any major angles or awkward bits of wood to cut out.
But even though it might initially seem like a good idea to make your own nest of tables, you will probably find it much easier to just go out and buy a set. First of all you have to think about the fact that you need to make not one table, but three. And they need to be just the right size to nest together as well. If you get the measurements wrong you will end up with a nest of tables that doesn’t fit together or doesn’t look right. If you look at a standard nest of tables you will see that the measurements have to be just right for them to work well together.
There is also the case of time to think about. You may find that after you have gone out and bought all the necessary materials and made all the tables, it would take far too much time out of your schedule. If you don’t get a lot of free time it could take several weekends to actually get the finished product.
In addition to this you need to think about why you want a nest of tables in the first place. For example you might be having a party and you need some new tables to provide some surfaces to put things on. Clearly you probably won’t have the time to make tables in this situation!
If you want to put your own personal stamp on a set of small tables you would be better off buying the basic tables in unfinished wood. This means all the hard work of actually making them is done for you, and all you have to do is to decide how to finish them off. There are a number of ways you can do this, and they enable you to personalise your set of tables so you get something truly unique. You can also say you have put some of your own efforts and ideas into them.
So think carefully before you embark on making your own tables. It could be a lot easier simply to buy them.
